Mrs. Todd, Teacher Librarian
Distinguished Educator of the Year Mrs. Todd is a Kempsville High School graduate who proudly calls Kempsville her home. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History from Old Dominion University; in addition, she obtained two Masters of Science in both Secondary Education and Library Science at Old Dominion University.
Mrs. Todd taught English 12, Honors English 10, and Honors English 11 for Norfolk Public Schools; she then taught Advanced 6th grade and Advanced 7th grade Language Arts for one year at Corporate Landing Middle School. She served as the Teacher Librarian at Rosemont Forest Elementary School for two years before transferring to Kempsville High School, a life long dream for her. Married to a fellow VBCPS educator, Mrs. Todd has three children who are future Chiefs, plus a dog named Henry. In her spare time, you can find her at the gym, on the beach, or reading the latest Young Adult books. |
Mrs. Whitney, Teacher Librarian
Mrs. Whitney is a Kempsville High School graduate and just recently moved from Kempsville to the country. She graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education. She continued with her education by pursuing her Masters in Library Science. Mrs. Whitney taught 5th grade for several years in Virginia Beach. Once she obtained her Ms.Ed., she secured a position as a Library Media Specialist at Hermitage Elementary. She served as a LMS at both HES and Bayside Elementary School before transferring to her alma mater, Kempsville High School. Mrs. Whitney is married to a government employee and has three grown sons, all of whom graduated from Kempsville High School. She travels extensively over school breaks and in the summer; she particularly loves to visit the Caribbean. For fun, Mrs. Whitney scrapbooks, attends concerts, and read! Her dog, Luna, is BFF's with Mrs. Todd's dog, Henry. |
Mrs. Sensenig, Library Assistant
KHS Assistant of the Year Mrs. Sensenig was born and raised in Sinking Spring, PA. She graduated from Wilson High School and then obtained a Bachelors in Business Administration from Shippensburg University.
Whether serving as an official VBCPS employee, a substitute, or as a PTSA volunteer, Mrs. Sensenig has been dedicated to the Kempsville community for numerous years. Before becoming a Library assistant, she was a substitute teacher and an office associate in our School Counseling office. In addition, she has held many executive board member positions with the PTSA here at KHS and at one of our feeder schools, Kempsville Middle. She currently serves as the staff liaison for PTSA and the All Night Grad Committee. Mrs. Sensenig is a Navy wife who has lived in the Kempsville area for twenty years. Both of her sons graduated from Kempsville High School and James Madison University. Golden Retriever rescue is one of her passions in life. She currently has two dogs, Polly and Jake, that keep her busy! Her hobbies include gardening, crafting, playing Bunko, and spending time with friends and family. |
